Cookie policy

Last updated 17 October 2026

This policy explains how Monitrx uses cookies and similar technologies (such as browser local storage) on this website and in the dashboard. It should be read together with our Privacy policy.

In short

We use one strictly necessary cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies, we do not sell your data, and we do not embed third-party analytics that set cookies of their own.

What we set, and why

NameTypePurposeLifetime
monitrx_sessionStrictly necessaryA random session identifier. It is what tells the server which account a request belongs to, so this is what keeps you signed in between page loads.Up to 30 days, refreshed while you use the product

This cookie is HttpOnly (JavaScript cannot read it), SameSite=Lax, and marked Secure when served over HTTPS. It contains an opaque, random value: it is not a copy of your account details and it cannot be decoded into them.

Because this cookie is strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for, it is exempt from prior consent under the ePrivacy rules. There is nothing optional for you to opt out of, which is why the notice on the site is informational rather than a consent wall.

Local storage

Alongside the cookie, the product stores a few small preferences in your browser's local storage. Local storage is not a cookie and is never sent to our servers automatically. We use it for:

  • Theme (monitrx-theme) — whether you chose light or dark mode, so the next page does not flash.
  • Dismissed notices (monitrx-announcements-dismissed, monitrx-cookie-ack) — which banners you have already closed, so we do not show them again.

All of these stay on your device and describe only your own choices.

Third parties

Public status pages are rendered by our own servers. We do not embed third-party widgets, fonts, pixels or social plug-ins that would set their own cookies in your browser. If that ever changes, this policy and the on-site notice will be updated first.

Managing cookies

You can delete or block the session cookie in your browser settings at any time. If you block it, you will not be able to sign in or use the dashboard, because it is the only mechanism that keeps a session alive. Clearing your browser storage will also reset your theme and re-show any dismissed notices.

Changes and contact

We will update the date at the top of this page whenever this policy changes materially. Questions about cookies or privacy can go to [email protected].
